Massage For Relief Of Back Pain From Work Strain, Pregnancy, Or Injury

Massage therapy has been used to help the body return to health since before Hippocrates who was considered the father of medicine 450-377 B.C.E. . The Greeks, ancient Egyptians, Chinese and many cultures around the world have used a form of massage to restore the body to health.

There are numerous names to the techniques used to release pain and tension from the body. Massage therapy primarily involves the application of an oil or liniment that allows the practitioner to perform a systemized technique on the muscles, tendons or soft tissues of the body to promote healing.

All our therapists at Ultra Health Therapies™ are fully accredited and trained in their fields with Health Fund rebates available.

Ultra Health Therapies™ - Oriental Massage

ORIENTAL MASSAGE

What is Oriental Massage?

Oriental Massage is a hands-on therapy like other massage techniques however there are some distinct differences. The techniques have come from the Orient and the practitioner of Oriental Massage promotes the flow of 'Qi' in the energy channels of the body called meridians. The purpose of having an Oriental Massage is to facilitate the flow of 'Qi' in the body which in turn balances the client.

What do I need to wear?

Oriental Massage does not require the client to remove clothing. Dressed comfortably in non-restrictive clothing is the preferred requirement prior to a session.

Do I sit up in the Oriental Massage session?

At some point the client may be asked to sit up during their treatment. It will usually be to facilitate the healing process. Most of the treatment will be done with the client face down or face up on a comfortable massage table. Although you may not end up going to sleep during the massage you will feel revitalised, lighter and rested afterwards.

Does it hurt?

An Oriental Massage practitioner primarily uses pressure, stretching and friction techniques designed to facilitate the body back to health. It can be a little more painful in areas that are blocked compared to areas of the body that are healthy. But the practitioner will work within your tolerance level and you will notice that as the block area clears there will be no remaining pain.

What areas can Oriental Massage work?

Oriental Massage begins at the head where all the meridians of the body pass. Systematically the practitioner will work all the meridians of the body including the face, arms, hands, legs, feet and torso.

How long does it take?

Typically one hour is allocated at Ultra Health Therapies™ allowing some down time for the client from a busy schedule. However, many Oriental Massage techniques can be done for specific areas such as neck and shoulders in 15 -30 minutes.

How much is an Oriental Massage?
